What is the difference between topical and liquid collagen?
Topical versus oral application of collagen differ in the body’s metabolism of the molecule. In consumption, it’s broken down and yes, benefits the skin, but also provides some energy and some of the amino acids get allocated to other bodily processes. With topical application, it’s more concentrated to a specific area for skin benefit, in which it directly interacts with the fibroblasts (cells that produce collagen) and hydration molecules within the dermis. Studies suggest a synergistic effect with both consuming and applying collagen, so it’s less of a discussion of “this or that” and more a discussion of “this and that”.

How much zinc is in our deep talk?
It’s 7 mg! About 82% of your daily intake

Do we have formaldehyde in our product?
No formaldehyde or formaldehyde donors!

Are we non- comedogenic?
We do not claim non-comedogenicity. Unfortunately, so many well known moisturizing ingredients are considered comedogenic, based on a ranking scale that itself is a bit flawed.

Are we gluten free?
All skincare and body care yes! Also, hair care and collagen- just not deep talk.

How much byoung pool on our booster. Serum and moisture in the EX line ?
Booster-88%, serum- 81%, ex cream- 57%

Are our products EWG certified?
EWG establishes a list of “green” or nontoxic ingredients and offers a certification for brands formulating with those ingredients. While many of our products referenced the EWG all green list and contain green ingredients, the certification is lengthy and expensive, so we haven’t submitted for certification (but doesn’t mean we never will!).

Are the hair care products safe for color treated hair?
It was tested safe for color treated hair

Is there snail mucin in our products?
Snail mucin is a very popular ingredient in K-beauty. While it’s generally good for hydrating and antioxidant care, we chose to focus on ingredients that would allow us to stand out as a brand and a unique formulation experience. The Giant BYoungPool also has hydration, antioxidant, and skin healing claims and is exclusive to RIMAN. Snail mucin also has its characteristic texture which would limit the formulation consistencies we aimed for. There are so many good ingredients out there for K-Beauty, we just chose a specific few to build our story around.

Collagen talk. Beauty Collagen EX ~ Why ours?
There are so many different options, it’s all about quality of collagen source and product form. Our collagen is 100% Nile tilapia from a certified fish farm- it’s solely type 1 collagen, which is the most abundant type of collagen in the human body. The hydrolyzation of the peptides is also a specialized process that determines the bioavailability of a collagen peptide, and our hydrolysed collagen peptides are highly bioavailable. Collagen isn’t the only beneficial ingredient either- the biotin, hyaluronic acid, and wheat ceramides further add to and support the efficacy of the product as a concentrated shot of skin benefiting goodness.  Lastly, the fact that it’s a shot is novel since you can easily take it on the go as needed versus needing to mix a powder.

Do we test on animals?
Definitely not! We are completely cruelty free.

Acne talk
I have to make the disclaimer that RIMAN products are not meant to specifically treat or cure skin diseases or concerns, but if we look at acne as an affliction of bacterial imbalances and inflammation, a variety of the products apply well to those general skin issues. The Purecell Cleansing Oil has black cumin seed oil which is known to be an antibacterial agent and can also help remove excess sebum in the pores, which may often contribute to pimple formation. And then both the Snow Enzyme and the Active Clean Up powder have exfoliating agents like papain, which again help to dissolve blockages in the pores and excess dead skin cells that often can lead to those blockages. Lastly, the Incellderm Dermatology First EX Package and Active EX Cream both have that high concentration of Giant BYoungPool leaf water, which is an anti-inflammatory agent that greatly increases skin health and overall skin comfort while still being suitable for sensitive skin

We are not considered medical grade, correct?
Correct, the FDA strictly regulates pharmaceutical grade products and they fit within stringent formulation guidelines with higher concentrations of pure actives and extensive clinical testing. They’re also less available to the public. As our main goal is to offer skincare that’s effective and non irritating to the general public such that it’s not restricted in usage to specific skin types or concerns, that type of active level would hinder that promise, as many medical grade products need to be carefully and strategically used to avoid skin irritation. Instead, we choose to still align ourselves with similar standards of quality and submit our products to clinical testing and skin compatibility testing to give support to our methodologies of skincare

Cosmetic Grade vs Medical Grade.
Cosmeceutical Grade – What’s the difference?
Medical grade:  Traditionally prescribed, high levels of actives, clinical testing, can make claims towards altering the appearance of skin or addressing a specific skin issue.
Cosmetic grade:  Any product with the intention of beautifying or altering appearance of the skin without altering structure or function.
Cosmeceutical grade:  Non-prescription, containing more biologically active ingredients, with performance that goes beyond traditional claims of beautification.

Are we organic?
And when someone asks if we are organic, it’s a complicated answer- for a product to be certified organic it has to have a certain percent of ingredients deemed organic (NSF/ANSI 305) by the FDA- since this was not a frame of reference for Korea in making our line, we don’t have that, and we aren’t certifiably organic. BUT, a majority of our products contain mostly (if not entirely) natural ingredients, so I often tell people that we formulate with cruelty free and natural ingredients that respect our environment and its resources. I explain that our formulations had the primary focuses of efficacy and novelty in their creations, so we strive less for specific labels like organic and more so for product promises of results, with nature entirely in mind.

EDTA
EDTA is a chelating agent- essentially, it binds to the heavy metals present in formula and in the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria to boost the preservation of a system. It also acts as an antioxidant to maintain stability of natural oils in formula to avoid rancidity. Many studies found that EDTA is safe in skincare and is not a skin sensitized nor carcinogen.

What is the PH of our cleansers?
It’s maintained between pH of 5-7

What does cosmeceutical skincare mean?
As I define it, cosmeceuticals are simply cosmetic products with bio active ingredients that are thought to have medicinal, holistic, or other skin health-promoting benefits!

Which products have high concentration of vitamin C?
High concentrations of Vitamin C traditionally become difficult in formula because it’s VERY unstable, so a lot of companies that sell pure Vitamin C design the entire product around maintaining stability. With lower concentrations and other ingredients with similar actives, you can still see promising results, both the main lines have Vitamin C, but I would specifically suggest the Rad100 Ampoule - it’s a more concentrated format naturally, and the Vita-Complex contains Vitamin C in a slightly higher concentration in comparison to Dermatology Ex, along with other complexes that aid in skin brightening activity.

SPF and why it’s not in our moisturizer
We purposefully omitted SPF in our coverage products for a variety of reasons.  The greatest reason is formulation compatibility – both chemical and mineral filters have sensory profiles that may hinder the desired aesthetics of a formula of could even render a formula unstable.  By omitting these filters, we can focus on the most desired finishes for coverage products.

Furthermore, omitting sunscreen allows wearers to layer various products for their personalized skincare routines.   Should someone wish to wear their own coverage product, they can still utilize our Aqua Protection Sunscreen underneath.  Certain consumers have specific skincare needs based on dermatologist recommendations, so a greater amount of people can use our Aqua BB Cream and 4D Lustre Cushion even if they have sensitivities to sunscreen filters, because these products are non-SPF.  The same rhetoric goes for our moisturizers as well – beyond formulation compatibility, adding sunscreen may limit the applicability of these products to the greater population – furthermore, it is not recommended/not necessary to apply SPF before bed, so the lack of sunscreen in these creams allow for daily and nightly use.

EWG
EWG establishes a list of “green” or non toxic ingredients and offers a certification for brands formulating with those ingredients. While many of our products referenced the EWG all green list and contain green ingredients, the certification is lengthy and expensive, so we haven’t submitted for certification (but doesn’t mean we never will!).

Do we have aloe in our products?
The only product in the skincare line that has aloe is the calming balance gel, and it’s not your typical aloe Vera but aloe ferox, a subspecies

What kind of fish is used for the liquid beauty collagen?
Specifically, Nile Tilapia.  From a farm, not wild caught, so purity is a marker for their collagen sourcing.

Is there any estrogen in our products?
No.

Wheat on label of collagen
The wheat ceramides in the collagen ampoule are derived from lipids from the wheat plant, thusly free from the allergen associated with celiacs and gluten intolerances, and are certified gluten-free as recognized by the gluten-free certification organization specifications. I’ve asked HQ to work towards getting a seal for this on the box, so that people feel more at ease.
Collagen is GLUTEN FREE
